The eight-part series starts on BBC Two on December 16 at 9pm. Episodes one and two will air back-to-back, lasting an hour and 45 minutes in total.

The drama created by Ryan Murphy, Jaffe Cohen, and Michael Zam has been acquired by BBC Two from 20th Century Fox and was televised in America in March.

What is Feud: Bette and Joan about?

The eight-part series explores the relationship between old-Hollywood actresses Bette Davis and Joan Crawford while filming the 1962 movie - What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?

The pairs’ rivalry began on set but continued for years after the cameras had stopped rolling.

The series also explores how the co-stars dealt with ageism, sexism and misogyny in Hollywood’s golden age of film, while trying to hang on to success and fame in the twilight of their careers.

The series stars Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford and Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis.

Catherine Zeta-Jones is also in the series. She plays two-time Oscar award winning actress Olivia de Havilland, the only living person portrayed in the drama.

Kathy Bates also makes an appearance as Joan Blondell, another actress at the time, who today’s audience might recognise from her role as Vi, the malt shop waitress in the original movie musical Grease.

Has there been legal backlash?

Yes. 101-year old Olivia de Havilland has sued the production team for how she was depicted in the show.

LA Superior Court Judge Holly Kendig unsurprisingly ruled Wednesday in Olivia's favour, and it is now going to court.

An five to seven-day trial on the case was set to start on November 27.

Seeking wide-ranging damages, Olivia wrote in her initial June 30 lawsuit that the portrayal of her by Catherine Zeta-Jones damaged her “professional reputation for integrity, honesty, generosity, self-sacrifice and dignity.”
